What does the Bible say about us as Children of God?
We have been "...strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light;
who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins." - KJV
Amen!
So it doesn't matter - and never did - who we are or what we do. It only matters how God sees us and what He has done for us through Christ.
These things, Paul says, are ALL due to Christ. "Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior," he says in verse 21, "but now he [God] has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight." - NIV
Now, if there's one thing I know I'm not, it's holy. Christ's death, however, renders me free from accusation (v. 22). As Paul goes on to say in verse 27, this is a great mystery. But it's a gloriously revealed mystery we can proclaim because of Christ's power at work in us (v. 28-29), and through the faith we have in his supremacy (v. 18-20).
